How Tekmatix Makes Missed Call Text Back More Reliable with Smarter Number Selection
A missed call can easily become a missed opportunity. And if your automatic follow-up text fails because the number your customer called cannot send SMS, that opportunity can disappear before the conversation even begins.
Tekmatix has improved Missed Call Text Back with smarter number selection.
Instead of relying only on the number the customer originally called, Tekmatix can now automatically choose another eligible messaging number from your account when needed.
The result: more missed callers can receive your follow-up message while your SMS activity remains aligned with messaging requirements.
What Has Changed?
Previously, Missed Call Text Back attempted to send the follow-up SMS from the same phone number the customer originally called.
That works well when the number is eligible to send SMS.
However, some phone numbers may be designed primarily for receiving calls, used for call tracking, included in number pools, or not currently eligible for outbound messaging.
In those situations, the missed call text could fail even when another SMS-ready number was available in your Tekmatix account.
Tekmatix can now automatically select a more suitable sending number when this happens.
How Tekmatix Chooses the Sending Number
When someone calls your business and you miss the call, Tekmatix will still attempt to send the Missed Call Text Back from the number they originally called first.
If that number is eligible to send SMS, nothing changes.
If it cannot send SMS, Tekmatix will automatically look for the next most appropriate option in this order:
A number that has previously been used to successfully message that contact
Your default outbound number
Another eligible messaging number available in the account
This means your automated follow-up has a better chance of being delivered without you having to manually decide which number should be used.
When Is Smarter Number Selection Useful?
This improvement is particularly helpful when incoming calls are received through numbers that may not be eligible for outbound SMS, including:
Number pools
Call tracking numbers
Unverified toll-free numbers
Voice-focused numbers
Other numbers that do not currently meet SMS sending requirements
Instead of automatically attempting the message from a number that cannot send SMS, Tekmatix can use another eligible number when one is available.
What Will Your Customers Notice?
In most situations, your customers will not notice any difference.
They miss reaching you by phone and receive the automatic follow-up SMS as expected.
In some cases, however, the SMS may come from a different phone number than the one they originally called.
This is intentional.
Rather than allowing an important follow-up message to fail, Tekmatix selects a number that is eligible to send the message.
Why This Matters for Your Business
When a potential customer calls your business, they are often actively looking for help, information or a service.
If you cannot answer immediately, your Missed Call Text Back can help keep that conversation alive.
Smarter number selection helps you:
Reach More Missed Callers
Reduce failed follow-up messages caused by the original incoming number being unable to send SMS.
Keep Your Follow-Ups Automated
Tekmatix manages number selection automatically, reducing the need to manually control which number should send each missed call message.
Stay Aligned with Messaging Requirements
The system takes messaging eligibility into account, including requirements that may apply to A2P messaging and toll-free verification.
Respond to Potential Leads Faster
A quick follow-up can let someone know their call was received and encourage them to continue the conversation rather than contacting another business.
Good to Know
There are a few things to keep in mind when using Missed Call Text Back:
Answered calls continue to work as normal and will not trigger a Missed Call Text Back.
If Missed Call Text Back is disabled in your Phone System settings, no automatic message will be sent.
Your contacts' communication preferences and Do Not Disturb settings will continue to be respected.
If Tekmatix cannot find an eligible number to send the SMS, the failed attempt and its reason will appear in the conversation so you can see what happened.
More Reliable Follow-Up Without More Manual Work
Missed Call Text Back is designed to help you reconnect with people when you cannot answer their call.
With smarter number selection, Tekmatix now has another way to help make those automated follow-ups more reliable.
If the number your customer originally called cannot send SMS, Tekmatix can automatically look for an eligible alternative and use it when available.
That means fewer missed follow-ups, less manual number management and a better chance of keeping important customer conversations moving.
